What is Spirometry?

What is Spirometry?
Spirometry is a simple, painless, and reliable pulmonary function test used to assess how well the lungs work. It measures how much air the lungs can inhale and exhale, as well as how quickly air can be expelled from the lungs.

When is Spirometry Recommended?
- Persistent or chronic cough
- Shortness of breath
- Wheezing
- Diagnosis and monitoring of lung diseases such as asthma and COPD
- Evaluation of treatment effectiveness

How is the Test Performed?
The patient breathes through a mouthpiece connected to a spirometer. Following the physician's instructions, the patient takes a deep breath and exhales as forcefully as possible. The test takes only a few minutes and is completely painless.

Early diagnosis allows timely treatment and helps maintain healthy lung function.
