Radiology
Radiology is the medical field that focuses on obtaining accurate information about a patient’s internal organs using various medical devices. Most of the radiology equipment operates with X-rays. These devices are not used for pregnant women or women planning pregnancy, as they may be harmful.
X-ray – primarily used for diagnosing bone and lung diseases.
Computed Tomography (CT) – uses X-rays to obtain cross-sectional visual images of the human body. During a CT scan, the patient must remain still. This method is mainly applied to detect tumor tissues in different areas of the body. Depending on the organ being examined, a contrast agent may be administered intravenously or orally. Patients are advised to avoid solid foods for 4 hours before the procedure, and consumption of tea, coffee, and fruit juice should also be avoided.
