Nearly 200 ENT Specialists from Around the World gather in Baku
On June 3–4, the 4th International Congress of the Azerbaijan Society of Otorhinolaryngology and the 1st International Congress of the Azerbaijan Society of Phoniatrists and Speech Therapists, titled “New Horizons in Phoniatrics,” is being held at Hilton Baku with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and TABIB.
The congress is organized in collaboration with the Union of European Phoniatricians, the Turkish Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, the Voice, Speech and Swallowing Disorders Society, the Professional Voice Society, and the Laryngology Society of Türkiye. The primary objective of the event is to facilitate comprehensive discussions on modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of voice disorders. The scientific program includes 10 dedicated panels addressing these topics.
Approximately 200 otorhinolaryngologists are participating in the congress. The list of speakers includes nearly 40 ENT specialists and speech therapists from Türkiye, the United States, and Azerbaijan.
On the first day of the congress, Professor Haldun Oğuz, President of the Union of European Phoniatricians, Associate Professor İlter Denizoğlu, creator of the DoctorVOX voice therapy method, and Associate Professor Ramil Hashimli, Board Member of the Union of European Phoniatricians, conducted an interactive course on voice therapy applications, one of the most widely used treatment methods for voice disorders. In addition to ENT specialists, the course was attended by speech therapists, artists, and faculty members and students of the National Conservatory.
The official opening ceremony of the congress took place on June 4. Throughout the day, the scientific program continues with seven panels dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of various voice-related disorders, including benign and malignant laryngeal lesions, vocal cord paralysis, pediatric dysphonia, innovations in audiovestibular diagnostics, and the application of artificial intelligence in phoniatrics.
On June 5, 2026, the 1st Karabakh Voice Congress will also be held, hosted by Karabakh University. The aim of the congress is to provide a scientific platform for discussing various aspects of the professional voice, Azerbaijani music, mugham, and national vocal traditions together with local and international experts, physicians, and representatives of the arts, while fostering future research collaborations.
The main themes of this inaugural congress include different aspects of professional voice use, lifelong vocal health and performance, and research opportunities in voice and vocal science. Representatives of the aforementioned international scientific societies will also participate in the event.
The congress has been accredited by the Scientific Medical Council of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan with 13 DTT credits and is held with the general sponsorship of LOR Hospital.
